At Singularity, we’re always testing new AI tools that could help engineers save time. This week, we tried out SciSummary—an AI summarization platform—to see if it could handle a shell and tube heat exchanger calculation PDF.

🛠 What We Did

  • We created a free account on SciSummary.com

  • Uploaded a full technical document using “+ Add Article”

  • Clicked “New Summary” to generate an AI-driven summary

🔍 What Happened

SciSummary accepted the upload and began processing immediately. But once it finished, the output was locked behind a paywall. We could see a preview, but the full summary was inaccessible without a paid subscription.

⚠️ Verdict

As engineers, we weren’t able to evaluate the summary quality because the free version doesn’t give access to full results. That makes it unsuitable for technical document reviews unless you're on a paid plan.

💡 Pro Tip

If you're looking for a free solution, we use ChatGPT with a custom prompt to summarize technical reports, datasheets, and calculation files. Want access to the prompt? Reach out—we’re happy to share.
